(Orden al Mérito Aeronáutico). Instituted in 1946. Hardshelled design on both the lid and base, steel blue textured exterior, the lid bearing the Peruvian coat-of-arms in gold-coloured ink, silvered sunburst-style button placed on the front edge of the lid, inside lid in white satin, padded and exhibiting the impressions of the Grand Cross and Breast Star, the base housing a raised platform in ruby red felt, the platform with a slotted and recessed medal bed for the pinback and flanking stays of the Breast Star, measuring 140 mm in width x 297 mm in height x 54.5 mm in depth, the exterior free of contact marks, the white satin lining on the inside lid exhibiting tiny nips and spotting from the facing Breast Star, the red felt medal bed very clean and free of interruptions in the fabric, near extremely fine.

 

Footnote: The Order of Aeronautical Merit was instituted in October 1946 and is awarded for particular achievements in aeronautical and military activities, in five grades: Grand Cross, Grand Officer, Commander, Officer and Knight.
