(Allgemeines-Ehrenzeichen II. Klasse). Instituted 18 January 1810 by King Friedrich Wilhelm III. (1810-1918 issue). Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon with bronze backplate and horizontal pinback, the obverse with an inscription of “VERDIENST UM DEN STAAT” (“SERVICE TO THE STATE”), within a laurel wreath joined at the bottom by a ribbon, the reverse with a monogram of King Friedrich Wilhelm III, unmarked, measuring 39.26 mm in diameter, weighing 37.2 grams (inclusive of ribbon and backplate), in near extremely fine condition.
