Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Grand Duchy. A Friedrich Franz Merit Medal in Silver

(Verdienstmedaille in Silber). Instituted 28 February 1859 by Grand Duke Friedrich Franz II. (1859-1872 issue). Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse with a rightward-facing profile of Grand Duke Friedrich Franz II circumscribed by name and title, the reverse with an inscription of “DEM VERDIENSTE”, within an oak leaf wreath, unmarked, measuring 40.88 mm in diameter, weighing 30.0 grams, minor chipping and tarnishing evident, in overall better than very fine condition.
