(Orden de San Carlos). Instituted in 1954. Sash badge consisting of an enameled green Shamrock Cross in silver gilt, exhibiting cluster of silver rays in each quadrant, the obverse featuring a gilt Colombian coat of arms, mirrored reverse with the inscription ORDEN DE SAN CARLOS across the arms, measuring 49.89 mm (w) x 54.63 mm (h - inclusive of integral ring), presenting minor wearing surfaces, suspended by a full-length original sash ribbon with bow, very good condition; accompanied by the breast star, an enameled green Shamrock Cross in silver gilt, with extensive silver rays in each quadrant, obverse centre with a gilded Colombian coat of arms, the plain reverse with principal pin assembly, measuring 55.40 mm (w) x 55.01 mm (h), with minor wearing surfaces, otherwise extremely fine.
Footnote: The Order of San Carlos was instituted on August 16, 1954 to reward Colombians and foreign, both military and civil personnel, for extraordinary service to Colombia, particularly within the realm of international relations. It is the second-highest award within the country.
