Japan, Imperial. An Imperial Japanese Police Jitte

An Imperial Japanese Police jitte, featuring a 285 mm-long magnetic metal shaft with a blunted tip and six edges. The base of the shaft features a single kagi (hook) 90 mm in length. The tsuba is constructed of a separate piece of patinated bronze and presents as a stylized chrysanthemum flower. The handle is constructed of magnetic metal, and is wrapped in ray skin. The jitte completes with a magnetic metal pommel with an integrated suspension loop. It is unmarked and measures 410 mm in total length. Some oxidation and loosening of the pommel is evident, but it is in an overall better than very fine condition.
