Germany, HJ. A Pair of HJ Leader’s Breeches

(HJ Stiefelhose). A very well-preserved pair of HJ Leader’s breeches, constructed of light-brown corduroy-style cotton twill. The waistband bears four magnetic metal buttons, with two bakelite buttons at the reverse.The fly closes with six magnetic metal buttons, distributed by sets of three on each side, meeting an equal number of reinforced buttonholes on the opposite flaps. The breeches have two side pockets, each opening with a stylized vertical flap with a reinforced buttonhole meeting a bakelite buttons. A small pocket with a horizontal flap is located at the top of the right leg, while the reverse of the right leg as a single pocket, similarly opening with horizontal flap with a reinforced buttonhole and bakelite button. Each ankle has a 245 mm-long vertical slit, with seven sets of dual brown-painted magnetic metal eyelets for the accommodation of a drawstrings which have been lost to time. The interior presents plain with the exception of an integrated cotton suspension loop at the reverse. The breeches are unmarked and measure approximately 400 mm across the waistband, with an inseam of 520 mm and an overall length of 820 mm. Minor material fatigue
