Edited by Dr. Walther Schultze, Consul General of Ecuador, published in Berlin by J.A. Stargardt, printed by Pass & Garleb of Berlin and bound by Baumbach & Co. of Berlin in 1900, in hardcover, the front cover in brilliant colours, featuring the image of a king holding an award, with a knight kneeling before him, laurel leaves at the left and oak leaves at the right, along with floral designs throughout and artist marked "M.H.", the back cover with an embossed design, containing 208 pages, the text in German, the nineteen chapters documenting the statues for the awards of the various German states (in order of appearance: Prussia, Hohenzollern, Bavaria, Saxony, Wurttemberg, Baden, Hesse, Mecklenburg-Schwerin/Mecklenburg-Strelitz, Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach, Oldenburg, Brunswick, Saxon Duchies, Anhalt, Schwarzburg-Sonderhausen/Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt, Waldeck, Reuss (older), Reuss (younger), Schaumburg-Lippe, Lippe), the text printed in black ink and framed within red rules, with seventeen colour plates at the back of the book on a thick paper stock, illustrating the various orders and their ribbons, each of the plates with vellum inserts, measuring 36.5 cm (w) x 50.3 cm (h), the exterior with light soiling on the front cover and finger marks present on the back cover, some of the vellum inserts have experienced tearing, the pages and colour plates pristine, near extremely fine condition.

This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
