(1850 issue) Constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse with a central monogram of Landgrave Ferdinand, above an inscription of “GESTIFTED AM 4 JUNI 1850” (“INSTITUTED ON 4 JUNE 1850”), within a laurel and oak wreath, the reverse with an inscription of “FÜR TREUEN DIENST IM KRIEGE” (“FOR LOYAL SERVICE IN WAR”), unmarked, measuring 31.21 mm in diameter, weighing 18.1 grams (inclusive of ribbon), in better than very fine condition.
