Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with pebbled arms, the obverse with a central raised monogram of Grand Duke Adolph Friedrich VI, within a laurel wreath, the six o’clock arm with a date of “1914”, the reverse with a central raised inscription of “TAPFER UND TREU” (“BRAVE AND LOYAL”), unmarked, measuring 41.67 mm (w) x 46.65 mm (h), weighing 21.9 grams, in very fine condition.
