Footnote: Mechanician 1st Class Edward Frederick Taylor, Royal Navy served aboard the destroyer HMS Lewes, a recommissioned ship from the U.S. Navy, formerly the USS Conway. She had been turned over to British authorities in the land bases for destroyers exchange in August 1940. Taylor was married to Mavis Taylor of Grimsby, Lincolnshire and died on December 29, 1943, at the age of 34, while serving aboard HMS Lewes. He is buried in the Naval Allotment at Simon's Town (Dido Valley) Cemetery, Western Cape, South Africa, Grave Reference: Row R, Grave 13.
