Instituted 25 December 1833 by Duke Friedrich of Saxe-Altenburg, Duke Ernst I of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, and Duke Bernhard II of Saxe-Meiningen. (1935 issue). Constructed of silver, consisting of a rightward-facing profile of Duke Carl Eduard of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, circumscribed by name and title, the reverse with a central depiction of the Saxe-Ernestine House Order, circumscribed by an inscription of “FIDELITER ET CONSTANER” (“FAITHFUL AND STEADFAST”), unmarked, the medal measuring 30.29 mm in diameter, the swords measuring 31.37 mm (w) x 11.68 mm (h), weighing 17.3 grams overall, in near extremely fine condition.
