Germany, Imperial. A Colonial Badge, Numbered

(Kolonialabzeichen). Constructed of silvered bronze, the obverse with a central elephant, above oak leaf branches and topped by an inscription of “SÜDSEE - AFRIKA - KIAUTSCHOU”, the reverse with a vertical pinback, marked with issue number “33992”, measuring 34.15 mm (w) x 38.69 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.

Footnote: The Colonial Badge was awarded to all personnel who participated in the war effort in Germany’s overseas territories.
