A First War period German brooch constructed from a gilded piece of an artillery shell driving band, featuring a black-enamelled Iron Cross with oak leaves on either side, reverse presents a horizontal pinback, with a metal banner soldered to the top stating “1914 WELTKRIEG 1916” (1914 WORLD WAR 1916”), measures 37 mm (w) x 16 mm (h), and in overall extremely fine condition.
