A First War period German brooch constructed from a gilded piece of an artillery shell driving band, featuring a black-enamelled Iron Cross with silvered oak leaves on either side, the dates “1914” and “1916” engraved at the ends, the reverse presents a horizontal pinback, measures 44 mm (w) x 10 mm (h), and in overall near very fine condition.
