A facing-right etched Brazilian branch symbol of the Wyvern in silver gilt, crowned by Brazilian crown, holding an orb and baton on each claw, in the chest exhibiting a shield with the monogram “PII” for Dom Pedro II of Brazil, with double integral ring to hang, likely to wear on a collar, measuring 61.80 mm (w) x 68.54 mm (h), with toned silver and missing the tip of the tail, otherwise fine.

 

Footnote: The traditional symbol and crest of the House of Braganza is a green wyvern representing Saint George, patron saint of Portugal. This symbol can be found in many different monuments in Portugal and Brazil, such as the Monument to the Independence of Brazil in São Paulo and in the palaces of the Imperial family in Rio de Janeiro and Petrópolis.
