(Medalla de Honor). An extremely unusual military medal in bronze gilt, with obverse centre exhibiting a superposed Mayan Indian’s head facing left on a red enameled heart, surmounted by enameled green laurel branches, plain reverse, marked by maker’s mark of N. S. MEYER, an army equipment store founded in New York City around 1906, measuring 39.05 mm (w) x 53.31 mm (h - inclusive of integral ring), presenting widespread wear on both surfaces, suspending on an original ribbon with two horizontal hanger and double screwback on the top, very fine.
