A blue mess jacket presenting as a double-breasted dinner jacket, constructed of dark navy wool, with two rows of four fire-gilded buttons, the obverses of each present an anchor, the reverses each maker marked with the Assmann logo and inscribed FEUER VERGOLDET, the jacket bears a chain closure with smaller versions of the anchor buttons, the right breast presents an officer’s breast eagle, constructed of gilt wire threads and mounted on a navy blue wool base, measuring 100 mm (w) x 42 mm (h), each sleeve bears a standard pattern sleeve braid measuring 16 mm wide, each sleeve also bears a star in gilt wire, the interior presents a lining in black rayon, with interior pockets on each interior breast, the interior collar presents a maker label for HEINRICH SCHNELLER BERLIN W, the jacket measures a total of 37.5 cm across the shoulders, 63 cm in the arms, and 51.5 in total length, presenting minimal wear, and in extremely fine condition.
