The Nigerian Commemorative Medal for the Tenth Anniversary of the Republic was instituted in 1973, to celebrate ten years of independence. It was awarded to those in the military and probably government officials. The Kuwait Liberation Medal was approved by the Kuwait Council of Ministers for award in five classes, generally according to the rank of the recipient. The medal was offered by the Chief of Staff of the Kuwait Armed Forces on July 16, 1994. The Third Class medal was intended for field-grade and equivalent officers. The National Service Medal was awarded for participation on the government side in the Civil War that raged after the secessionist declaration of the Republic of Biafra.
