France, III Republic. A Morocco Commemorative Medal 1909

(Médaille commémorative du Maroc 1909). Instituted in 1909. In silver, engraver marked "GEORGES LEMAIRE" on the obverse, hallmarked with a "2" flanked by dual cornucopias and marked with interlocking initials "GL" (Georges Lemaire) on the reverse, measuring 29.5 mm (w) x 50.2 mm (h) inclusive of its crescent moon and wreath suspension, very light contact, original ribbon, near extremely fine.

Footnote: The Morocco Commemorative Medal was instituted on July 22, 1909 and awarded to soldiers participating in the Second Franco-Moroccan War.
