(Ordin "Steaua Romaniei"). Instituted in 1877. Type II (1932-1947). In bronze gilt with red, green and blue enamels, cypher of Carol I on the obverse centrepiece, dated "1877" on the reverse centrepiece, measuring 40.8 mm (w) x 62.5 mm (h) inclusive of its crown and laterally-pierced ball suspension, intact enamels, original ribbon with hook and eye, extremely fine.

 

Footnote: The Order of the Star of Romania is Romania's highest civil Order and second highest State decoration after the defunct Order of Michael the Brave. It was originally awarded in six grades: Grand Cross with Collar, Grand Cross, Grand Officer, Commander, Officer and Knight.
