In die-stamped blackened brass, unmarked, illustrating the number "65" in the centre, the circlet inscribed "CARABINIERS MONT ROYAL", framed by an open-ended wreath of maple leaves and backed by a Maltese cross, the upper arm of the cross inscribed in French with the battle honour "BUTTE AUX FRANCAIS 1885" (Battle of Frenchman's Butte, fought on May 28, 1885, as part of the North-West Rebellion) and surmounted by the Victorian crown, a ribbon banner inscribed in Latin "NUNQUAM RETRORSUM" (Never Behind) and surmounted by a beaver placed below the cross, measuring 75 mm (w) x 111 mm (h), both lugs intact, scattered blackening wear, light contact, very fine.
