Austria, Empire: Cross of the Austrian Legion of Honour 1914-1918 (in bronze gilt, maker marked with the interlocking initials "DS" on the reverse, measuring 41.5 mm (w) x 40.8 mm (h), crossed bronze gilt swords on its original ribbon); and Hungary, Kingdom: First War Commemorative Medal for Combatants 1914-1918 (in silvered bronze, measuring 37 mm in diameter, original triangular combatant's ribbon with hook and eye). Contact marks, very fine.

 

Footnote: The Cross of the Austrian Legion of Honour is a military decoration of an ex-service men's organization, not of government issue. The Hungarian First War Commemorative Medal (Magyar Háborús Emlékérem) was instituted in 1929 and awarded to was combatants. It was also awarded to non-combatants (doctors, medics and nurses), without a helmet on the reverse.
