Constructed of silvered zink, on loop for suspension from its period original bow tie-style ribbon, the obverse with raised rightward-facing profiles of Grand Duchess Maria Pavlovna and Grand Duchess Feodora, circumscribed by names and titles, the reverse with central combined monograms, circumscribed by an inscription of “FRAUEN VERDIENST IM KRIEGE” (“WOMEN’S MERIT IN WARTIME”) and above a date of “1915” in Roman numerals, unmarked, measuring 36.98 mm (w) x 52.73 mm (h), weighing 29.7 grams (inclusive of ribbon), most of the silver finish has been lost, in overall very fine condition.
