Germany, Imperial. A Bremen Hanseatic Cross

(Hanseatenkreuz). Constructed of silvered bronze with enamels, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée, the obverse with red enameled arms, with a red enameled centrepiece bearing a silvered coat of arms of the city of Bremen, the reverse with a central inscription of “FÜR VERDIENST IM KRIEGE 1914” (“FOR MERIT IN WAR 1914”), measuring 40.21 mm (w) x 44.01 mm (h), weighing 19.9 grams, in better than very fine condition.
