(Heer Wehrpaß). A Wehrpaß constructed of a field-grey card stock binding, the interior with 52 pages, featuring a black-and-white photograph of the bearer held in place by dual magnetic metal rivets, stamped by Wehrbezirkskommando Mörs, measuring 106 mm (w) x 146 mm (h), minor age-appropriate material fatigue evident, in overall near extremely fine condition.
Footnote: Josef Steels was born on 1 December 1918 in Wachtendonk, Germany, to a Catholic family. He enlisted in the Reich Labour Service (Reichsarbeitsdienst) on 4 April 1938 and was released on 25 October of that year. Her volunteered for Wehrmacht service on 17 November 1938 and was sworn in on 22 November. He was assigned to the 8th Battery of the 26th Artillery Regiment, stationed in Düsseldorf. He was promoted to Gefreiter on 1 May 1940 and participated in the invasions of Belgium and France. He was subsequently transferred to the 2nd Battery of the 107th Artillery Regiment and was killed in action in the Soviet Union on 23 December 1941.
