Germany, Wehrmacht. A Panzer Assault Badge, Bronze Grade, by Adolf Schwerdt

(Panzerkampfabzeichen in Bronze). Constructed of bronzed feinzink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, topped by a Heer-style German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, with a central Panzer IV on grassy ground, with its left tread extending beyond the wreath, the reverse with a ball hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, maker marked with the logo of Adolf Schwerdt, Stuttgart, measuring 42.66 mm (w) x 63.08 mm (h), weighing 18.8 grams, a crack is visible to the wreath at the obverse three o’clock position, with most of the bronze finish lost, in overall near very fine condition.
