Constructed of silvered and gilded bronze with enamels, the obverse consisting of an eight-pointed radiant star, bearing a Maltese Cross with white enameled arms, surrounded by a gilt ring with crossed swords, with a central medallion bearing a raised German soldier, the reverse with a barrel hinge and banjo-style pinback meeting a flat wire catch, with an inscription of “DEUTSCHES FELD-EHREN-ZEICHEN” (“GERMAN FIELD HONOUR BADGE”) along with “HAMBURG 11”, measuring 52.08 mm (w) x 63.28 mm (h), weighing 30.1 g, very fine. Accompanied by a miniature stick pin of silvered bronze and white enamels, the obverse consisting of an eight-pointed radiant star, bearing a Maltese Cross, with two crossed swords, measuring 53.86 mm, very fine.
