A bronze straight-armed cross paty, the obverse centre bears a cipher “F” in Frakturscrift, surrounded by a wreath of oak leaves, a crown on the 12 o’clock arm and “1914” on the 6 o’clock arm, the reverse centre bears “FÜR VERDIENST IM KRIEGE” (FOR MERIT IN WAR), measuring 37.33 mm (w) x 41.94 mm (h), on green ribbon with red stripes, very fine.
