Germany, Third Reich. A Memel Medal Pairing

(Ordenschnalle). A commemorative medal bar featuring two decorations, including a Sudetenland Medal, constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, the obverse with two raised figures, one of which is clutching a flag and the other a length of broken chain, the reverse with a central date of “1. OKTOBER 1938”, circumscribed by an inscription of “EIN VOLK, EIN REICH, EIN FÜHRER” (“ONE PEOPLE, ONE NATION, ONE LEADER”), measuring 32.06 mm (h), weighing 14.0 grams, in near extremely fine condition, and; a Return of Memel Medal, constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, the obverse with two raised figures, one of which is clutching a flag and the other a length of broken chain, the reverse with a central inscription of “ZUR ERINNERUNG AN DIE HEIMKEHR DES MEMELLANDES 22. MÄRZ 1939” (“IN COMMEMORATION OF THE HOMECOMING OF MEMEL 22ND MARCH 1939”), within an oak leaf wreath, unmarked but with the physical characteristics of manufacture by the Berlin Mint, measuring 32.17 mm in diameter, weighing 13.3 grams, in near extremely fine condition; set on a 50 mm-long magnetic metal bar with a horizontal pinback, in very fine condition.
