Bavaria, Kingdom. A Campaign Medal for the Franco-Prussian War, c.1871

A circular medal constructed of gilded bronze, the obverse centre bearing a crowned Prussian eagle, two laurel branches on either side and shields and iron cross below, encompassed by a wreath border with various French cities on ribbons throughout, the reverse bears the left-facing portrait of Prince Regent Luitpold of Bayern encompassed by a wreath,, circumscribed with “LUITPOLD PRINZ REGENT VON BAYERN”, measuring 39.29 mm (w) x 46.74 mm (h), very fine.
