Germany, Imperial. A Medal for Faithful Employment from the Chamber of Agriculture Westphalia, c.1900

(Züchter Leistungsmedaille). A circular medal constructed of silver, the obverse bears a shield with an eagle on the bottom left and a shield with a horse on the bottom right on a script above says “SUUM CUIQUE” (TO EACH HIS OWN), “LANDWIRTSCHAFTSKAMMER FÜR DIE PROVINZ WESTFALEN FUR TREUE MITARBEIT” (AGRICULTURAL CHAMBER FOR THE PROVINCE OF WESTPHALIA FOR FAITHFUL EMPLOYMENT) inscribed on obverse, the reverse bears a scene with a woman standing on stairs at the left holding a bundle of oats, a cow, sheep and three people holding agricultural tools are on the right and in the background is “GOTT MIT UNS” (GOD WITH US) on the left and “SEGEN IST DER MIEHE PREIS” (BLESSING IN THE PRICE) on the right, marked “L. CHR. LAUER” (L. Christian Lauer) on obverse, with suspension ring, measuring 40.48 mm (w) x 45.38 mm (h), very fine.
