Constructed of silvered feinzink, the obverse with a central Wehrmacht eagle clutching a mobile swastika, above a crossed bayonet and stick grenade, on top of a non-magnetic backplate, within a square oak leaf wreath, with sun rays emanating from the centre of the left and right sides, and with four oak leaves and two acorns on each side, the reverse with a barrel hinge and banjo-style pinback meeting a flat wire catch, designer marked “W.E. PEEKHAUS, BERLIN”, maker marked with the logo of Friedrich Linden, Lüdenscheid, measuring 96.98 mm (w) x 25.76 mm (h), weighing 35.0 grams, age-appropriate material wear evident to the obverse, with replacement of the backplate and evidence of catch repair or replacement, in overall very fine condition.
