Germany, HJ. A 1944 Regional Trade Competition Victor’s Badge, by Gustav Brehmer

(Ehrenzeichen Gausieger im Reichsberufswettkampf). Constructed of zink with multi-coloured enamels, the obverse consisting of a circular laurel leaf wreath, with a central white disc overlaid by a German national eagle clutching a cogwheel overlaid by a HJ insignia, the eagle flanked by a date of “1944” and topped by an inscription of “GAUSIEGER”, the reverse with a ball hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, maker marked “G. BREHMER, MARKNEUKIRCHEN”, measuring 49.40 mm (w) x 47.20 mm (h), weighing 24.9 grams, some material fatigue evident, in overall very fine condition.
