(Heer Bajonett). A well-preserved Heer dress bayonet, measuring 405 mm in length when inserted into the scabbard. It features a 260 mm-long nickel-plated magnetic metal blade with a sharpened tip and unsharpened edges. The blade has fullers on each side, and is wholly unmarked. It sits securely within the nickel-plated upper crossguard, itself with hooked quillons, with the seam covered by a leather washer. The crossguard forms a one-piece handle, completing in a hooked pommel. The grip is facilitated by two pieces of pebbled black bakelite, held in place by dual magnetic metal rivets. It is accompanied by its period original scabbard, constructed of blackened magnetic metal. The shaft bears a hook connecting to a frog, which is also included and is constructed of blackened leather with a belt loop. The throat retains a functional spring catch, securely holding the bayonet in place during storage. Minor running marks are evident to the blade, with some loss of paint to the scabbard and age-appropriate material fatigue of the leather also apparent. The bayonet is in an overall better than very fine condition.
