Germany, Third Reich. An Air Protection Medal, I Class Miniature

(Luftschutz-Ehrenzeichen, I. Klasse Miniatur). Constructed of gilded bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with pebbled arms, the obverse with a central mobile swastika, circumscribed by a raised inscription of “FÜR VERDIENSTE IM LUFTSCHUTZ” (“FOR MERIT IN AIR PROTECTION”), the reverse bearing a date of “1938” on the three and nine o’clock arms, unmarked, measuring 17 mm (w) x 18 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
