Germany, Wehrmacht. A War Merit Cross, I Class with Swords, 1957 Issue

(Kriegsverdienstkreuz I. Klasse mit Schwertern). A Maltese cross paty constructed of silvered tombac, the arms are pebbled with smooth borders, two upwards-facing crossed swords lay between the arms, the obverse centre is inscribed with “1939” encompassed by a wreath, the reverse is plain bearing a vertical pinback, measuring 49.56 mm (w) x 49 mm (h), very fine.
