(Nishan-i-Osmania). Instituted in 1861. Multi-piece construction, in silver gilt with red and green enamels, inscribed in Arabic "Relying on the Assistance of Almighty God, Abdulaziz Khan, Sovereign of the Ottoman Empire" in Gold on the obverse centrepiece, reverse centrepiece with a trophy-of-arms with the year AH 699 (1299/1300 AD, the year of the creation of the Ottoman Empire), measuring 63.8 mm (w) x 80.5 mm (h) inclusive of its crescent moon and star suspension, intact enamels, dark patina, obverse centrepiece slightly loose, large rosette on its original ribbon, near extremely fine. Accompanied by a modern replacement ribbon with large rosette sewn in place.
Footnote: The Order of Osmanieh was instituted on December 9, 1861 by Sultan 'Abdu'l-Aziz Khan I and awarded to Ottoman civil servants and military leaders for outstanding services to the state. It was originally award in three grades, which was extended to five grades in 1867.
