Four-piece construction, three individual numbers (1, 2 and 7) in silver, affixed to a browning copper base, maker marked "BIRKS", dated "1916" and museum coded in white on the reverse, measuring 45.5 mm (w) x 45.7 mm (h), one of two lugs intact, fine.

 

Footnote: The Battalion was raised in the County of York, Ontario with mobilization headquarters at Toronto, under the authority of G.O. 151, December 22, 1915. The Battalion sailed August 24, 1916 under the command of Lieutenant-Colonel F.F. Clarke with a strength of 32 officers and 972 other ranks. On November 8, 1916, the Battalion was re-designated the 2nd Battalion, Canadian Railway Troops and served in France in this capacity. It was disbanded on September 15, 1920.
