(Ordre du Mérite National, Chevalier). Instituted in 1984. In bronze gilt, maker marked "AB" (Arthus Bertrand) within a starburst frame on the reverse, measuring 48 mm (w) x 72.3 mm (h) inclusive of its wreath suspension, very light contact, original ribbon, near extremely fine.

 

Footnote: The National Order of Merit was instituted on January 2, 1984 and awarded for eminent civil, military or public service to the nation, and for exceptional service in the cause of the revolution, in six grades: three classes of "Dignity", along with Commander, Officer and Knight.
