Austria, Imperial. A Red Cross War Aid Office Medal, c. 1915

A circular medal constructed of zinc, the obverse bearing the image of a fish-headed man holding a torpedo in his right arm, with “VNTER-SEE” inscribed on the bottom right, the reverse bears the inscription “ROTES KREUZ-KRIEGSHILFSBÜRO-KRIEGSFÜRSORGE-AMT 1914-1915” (RED CROSS WAR AID OFFICE WAR 1914-1915) within a pearled border, the obverse torpedo bears the mark “W. H” for Wilhelm Hejda, measuring 44.92 mm, weighing 30.4 g, very fine.
