Germany, Imperial. A Naval Observer’s Badge, Prinzen Size, c.1915

(Beobachterabzeichen). A well worn and period badge featuring in hollow silver, the obverse centre bears a left-facing eagle perched on a cliff side, the background has clouds and a rising sun with beams, encompassed by a border of laurel leaves and oak leaves tied with a ribbon at the bottom, a royal crown is superimposed at the top of the wreath, the reverse is plain with a silver purity mark of “800”, bearing a horizontal pinback , measuring 30.85 mm (w) x 47.95 mm (h), very fine.
