Prussia, State. An 1870 Iron Cross, II Class with “25” Jubilee Oakleaves

(Eisernes Kreuz 1870 II Klasse, mit Eichenlaub). A cross pattée of multi-piece construction with a blackened iron core (magnetic) within a ribbed border; the obverse with a raised central “W”, with the re-institution date “1870” in raised numbering on the 6 o’clock arm and the royal crown on the 12 o’clock arm, the reverse with a central oak-leaf branch consisting of three oak leaves, with the original institution date “1813” in raised numbers on the 6 o’clock arm, and a crowned cipher “FW” on the 12 o’clock arm, measuring 43.64 mm (w) x 47.03 m (h), with a Jubilee Spange of three oak leaves with the number “25” in the centre, measuring 26.20 mm (w) x 20.95 mm (h), on a black ribbon with white stripes, very fine.
