An elongated clasp constructed of zinc, the obverse centre features a square panel with a recessed background field constructed of magnetic metal with an embossed national eagle with outstretched wings clutching a swastika in its talons, positioned above a crossed bayonet and grenade, to the left and right of the central square are four oak leaves and two acorns (per side) superimposed on a horizontally ribbed pointed base, the reverse is plain and bears a solid, soldered hinge inset into a rectangular recess with raised outer edges, with a broad tapering horizontal pin and flat catch inset into an ovular recess with raised outer edges, the reverse is designer marked with “FEC. W.E. PEEKHAUS BERLIN” and maker marked with “FLL” (for Friedrich Linden Lüdenscheid), each initial encompassed by a circular border, measuring 94.04 mm (w) x 25.21 mm (h), weighing 35.6 g, very fine.
