South Africa, Republic. A Navy Cross with Bar, c.1995.

(Crux Navalis). Instituted 1987. A pointed cross constructed of silver, the obverse centre bears a gilt lion passant (the emblem of the South African Navy) on a navy blue enamel, the reverse bears the pre-1994 South African coat of arms, the 6 o’clock arm engraved with the decoration number “35”, suspension bar is attached to cross, marked “SILVER” on reverse, measuring 45.3 mm (w) x 59.77 mm (h), weighing 35.2 g, with Navy bar with embossed Protea emblem, on a white ribbon with central navy blue stripe, very fine.
