Schwarzburg-Sondershausen, Principality. A War Merit Medal 1914

(Medaille Verdienst im Kriege 1914) Instituted 21 August 1914. A circular medal constructed of silvered bronze, the obverse bears two decorated intertwined mirrored “G”s with a crown at the top, below bears the inscription “1914”, the reverse centre bears the inscription “VERDIENST IM KRIEGE” (MERIT IN WAR), encompassed by a laurel leaf wreath tied with a ribbon at the bottom, measuring 40.05 mm (w) x 45.02 mm (h), with loop for suspension on a yellow and blue replacement ribbon, very fine.
