(Suomen Leijonan suurristi). Instituted in 1942. In silver with red and white enamels, gilt lion and centrepiece ring, maker marked with the A. Tillander Limited insignia, marked with the National crown, marked "830H" (830 Hopea = Silver), city marked with a boat (Helsinki) and date marked "T7" (1972) on the integral ring, measuring 40.8 mm (w) x 45.5 mm (h) inclusive of its integral ring, on its original ribbon, intact enamels, extremely fine.

 

Footnote: The Order of the Lion of Finland was instituted on September 11, 1942 and awarded for civilian and military merit, in six grades: Commander Grand Cross, Commander First Class, Commander, Knight First Class and Knight, plus Pro Finlandia Medal and Cross of Merit.
