(Luftwaffe Ehrenplakette). Constructed of silvered feinzink, the obverse bearing a raised and enameled Berlin coat of arms, topped by a bronzed zink Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, above a dedication to “MAJOR LUDWIG NIEMEYER” and an inscription of “FÜR HERVORRAGENDE LEISTUNG, DER KOMMANDIERENDE GENERAL UND BEFEHLSHABER IM LUFTGAU XI” (“FOR OUTSTANDING MERIT, THE COMMANDING GENERAL AND SUPREME COMMANDER OF LUFTGAU XI”), with an etched signature of General Ludwig Wolff, the reverse with a suspension loop and dual visible rivets securing the obverse features in place, unmarked, measuring 130 mm (w) x 172 mm (h), loss of finish and material fatigue evident throughout, in addition to loosening of both the eagle and coat of arms, in overall very fine condition.
