Germany, Wehrmacht. A Close Combat Clasp, Silver Grade, by Friedrich Linden

(Nahkampfspange in Silber). Constructed of silvered zink, the obverse with a central Wehrmacht eagle clutching a mobile swastika, above a crossed bayonet and stick grenade, within a square oak leaf wreath, with sun rays emanating from the centre of the left and right sides, flanked on each side by four oak leaves and two acorns, the reverse with a barrel hinge and banjo-style pinback meeting a flat wire catch, maker marked with the logo of Friedrich Linden, Lüdenscheid, measuring 96.74 mm (w) x 25.96 mm (h), weighing 33.3 grams, the clasp is missing its magnetic backplate and demonstrates oxidation and loss of finish throughout, in overall very fine condition.
