Germany, NSDAP. A 1942 Edition of “Das Land in den Bergen”, from the Library of SS-Obergruppenführer Arthur Seyss-Inquart

(Das Land in den Bergen). A 1942 edition of “Das Land in den Bergen” (“The Land in the Mountains”), constructed of a card stock binding with a marbled white canvas exterior liner, the exterior cover bearing a sketched blue depiction of a mountain inn above a mace and standard, above an inscription of “DAS LAND IN DEN BERGEN”, the spine similarly bearing the title in blue ink, the interior of the cover retains a label bearing an inscription of “UNSER BUCH, ARTHUR UND GERTRUD SEYß-INQUART” (“OUR BUCH, ARTHUR AND GERTRUD SEYß-INQUART”) indicating that the book was retrieved from the personal library of SS-Obergruppenführer Arthur Seyss-Inquart, with a handwritten dedication from Seyss-Inquart to one of his children, dated Christmas 1942 and featuring his signature, the contents of the book consisting of a 192 paper stock pages featuring extensive black-and-white photographs and text covering mountain and alpine activities such as climbing, hunting, and farming, published by Deutsche Alpenverlag, Innsbruck, measuring 248 mm (w) x 295 mm (h), minor material fatigue evident, in overall extremely fine condition.
