Germany, Weimar Republic. A 5th Army Corps Eastern Border Guards Badge

(Bewährungsabzeichen 5. Armeekorps Grenzschutz Ost). Instituted 9 April 1919. (1919-1920 issue). Constructed of silvered bronze, the obverse consisting of a circular laurel and oak leaf wreath, wrapped with a ribbon bearing an inscription of “GRENZSCHUTZ OST” (“BORDER PROTECTION EAST”) and a date of “1919”, around a central Roman numeral “5” on a hollow background, the reverse with a vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, unmarked, measuring 35.20 mm in diameter, weighing 6.0 grams, in very fine condition.
